Strawberry Crunch Cake Recipe

April 14, 2019 by Lisa Pinney

This was one of those showstopper cakes that just took me back to my childhood the first time I laid eyes on it!

It’s a reminder of summer, the ice cream truck music, playing in plastic pools in the backyard, not coming inside until the sun started to go down, washing the days dirt off, putting on clean pajamas and sitting on the front porch and listening to your parents talk with their neighbors until bedtime…

Memories of times that seemed much more simple…

And when you bite into the first piece, you are transported back to that first lick of the Strawberry Crunch Bar that you bought from that Ice Cream Truck that passed by your house every day!

Momma’s Fruit Cake Recipe

I  know that Fruit Cake usually gets a really bad rap!

Well, if you’re brave enough to try this one, I think you’ll have a new appreciation.

Mom and Granny started baking this cake in 1979, and in the past 10 years, we’ve made it even better by adding Pineapple Rum!

Juicy Orange Pound Cake Recipe

November 15, 2014 by Lisa Pinney

I simply love the Pioneer Woman!

This is a cake I watched her make recently…as I sat cross-legged…drooling…in front of the TV….

Just as I do every time I watch her show!

It’s ok…I know you do it too!

I wanted mine to taste a little more orangey—yes..that’s a word…so I altered it a little with 1/2 of the soda and 1/2 OJ…and all OJ in the glaze…Yum!

Granny’s Butter Cake Stacked in Pecans Recipe

October 23, 2014 by Lisa Pinney

Yesterday was Mom’s Birthday and I surprised her with this cake very similar to the one my Granny…her Mom..used to cook.

Granny made it quite a bit…it was her favorite!

We always found it under an old tin cake keeper that always sat on her dining room table.

Mom has mentioned it for years but this is the first time I’ve gotten around to making it.

Hope you enjoy!

Cherry Pineapple Upside Down Cake Recipe

August 9, 2014 by Lisa Pinney

My friend Louis said it should be called “Roll Tide Upside Down Cake” because of the beautiful crimson color the cherry pie filling takes on when it bakes!

If you’re an Alabama fan, I agree on that name!

Because some of you may not be…I must remain neutral!

No matter what the name, it was absolutely delicious!
