Homemade Caramel Corn Recipe

On on the continuation of my Fair Food posts…

The smell and taste of caramel corn is right up there on my list!

You won’t believe how easy this is and the guys in my house

said it was just ridiculous how good it tasted!

Ingredients

  • 8 cups popped popcorn, I used the Pop Secret microwave Popcorn I had on hand...about 3 -4 bags
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Method

Step 1

Pop popcorn and pour into electric turkey roaster or very large oven roasting pan.

Step 2

Heat the the roaster or your oven to 200 degrees.

Step 3

Making the caramel syrup: in a saucepan combine the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.

Step 4

Boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat; add the baking soda and stir well.

Step 5

Pour over popcorn and stir to combine as good as possible.

Step 6

Bake for 2 hours stirring every 15 minutes.

Step 7

Pour out on wax paper to dry.

Step 8

Enjoy!

Just for fun…thinking my grand babies may love to eat it like this…

i dipped the rim of the cones in chocolate melts and sprinkles…

I placed it all in a giant popcorn bucket for everyone to enjoy!
