Mardi Gras Bars Recipe

February 1, 2016 by Lisa Pinney

We gave these a test run this week for Daniel’s co-workers…one of his friends told him the next day that he dreamed of the Mardi Gras Bars all night!

I think you need to try them and let me know if they haunt your dreams as well!

The crust will begin most deliciously like this!

I mixed mine in a food processor for ease but you can also use a pastry cutter to blend the ingredients…

the dough will look like fine sand…

I was skeptical at first because it was so dry, but when you pour it in your 9×13 pan sprayed with nonstick spray..

it presses together well…

I used the back of a small rounded metal bowl to press it…

Next, mix up the wonderful filling ingredients and carefully spread it over the crust…

Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes…

immediately after removing from the oven, pour the glaze mixture over the filling and spread carefully…

Next, mix 1 cup sugar each with green, yellow and red+blue combined food color to make purple…

then spread the colors like so…

When the bars are completely cool,

cut into squares

and enjoy!
