Going for the Win Crescent Dog & Chili Frito Pie Recipe

September 25, 2017 by Lisa Pinney

When I asked Daniel to try my latest creation for my Monday Night Football post,

I was afraid he wouldn’t be a fan…But after one bite he said,

“Oh man, this trashy comfort food is always the best!”

Awe! Music to Mom’s ears!

Yep… You’re going to start with these non-nutritional items…

But it’s Monday night football y’all!

Roll out the crescents…

Cut the hot dogs in half…

Sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of cheese over each crescent…

Place a half of hot dog on each crescent at the largest end…roll it up like so…

Lay the rolls in a circle like this…

For test purposes, I just used 1 can of the crescents, four hot dogs and 1 can of chili in a small baker..

But if you’re feeding family and friends you’ll need to double the recipe…

Bake on 375 degrees for 25 minutes until they are perfect like this…

As soon as you remove them from the oven,

Pour the chili in the center and add the cheese…

Put the baker back in the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese is all melted…

Top with diced onions and diced or sliced jalapenos…

On each serving, add some crushed Frito’s…

Pour yourself some ice cold Coke…

And that my Friends is a Touchdown!

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • Diced or sliced jalapenos

Instructions

Sprinkle s couple of TBSP cheese on each crescent .

Cut each hot dog in half and place each half on the large end of the crescent,

Roll up in normal crescent fashion.

Place in a round baking dish around the edges, leaving the middle free later for the chili.

Bake on 375 degrees for 25 minutes.

While they’re baking heat the chili in a small saucepan or skillet.

When crescents are done, pour the chili in the middle of the pan.

Top the chili and crescents with the remaining cheese and return to the oven for 5 minutes until the cheese is all melted.

Remove from the oven and top with diced onions and jalapenos.

Add crushed Frito’s to each serving.

Enjoy!
