Classic Chocolate Chunk Pie Recipe

April 20, 2019 by Lisa Pinney

Sometimes you just need a warm, gooey, buttery, chocolaty piece of pie. This one is an easy classic…it’s been around for a number of years now.

I’ll tend to forget about how simple, rich and delicious it is…and how it just may cure what ails you at the moment.

I made one recently for a friend who was struggling with some not so great medical news. I know it did not fix everything but every warm, chocolaty bite was a big hug from me!

I believe pretty much

every bit of cooking magic

begins with butter,

sugar, brown sugar,

eggs and flour …

The original recipe calls

for chocolate chips

but these chocolate

chunks and I have this

special bond…

when our eyes meet

on the baking aisle

there’s just  no other type

of chocolate for me–

it’s chunks all the way!

With your mixer, combine

the magical ingredients that

we talked about and

then add the chocolate chunks

and the chopped pecans…

if you don’t like pecans

you can substitute with walnuts,

or if you don’t like nuts or

a family member has a nut allergy,

you can omit them altogether.

Mix the batter on low for a few

whirls until combined..

Dump it all in your prepared pie crust…

my heart belongs to the Dough Boy from

Pillsbury, so I always have them on hand…

but if you make a mean pie crust…

please go ahead and use your favorite!

Spread it evenly to the sides with

the back of a spoon…

It will look amazing like this!

Bake on 325 degrees for 55-60 minutes…

It will then look just perfect like this!

You can top it with some ice cream,

whipped cream,

serve it with a huge cup

of cold milk or a

steaming hot cup of coffee!

There is no way to loose

with this piece of heaven!

I found this wonderful

read on the invention

of the Toll House Cookie and

its history…
