June 9, 2015 by Lisa Pinney

I love, love love to make my family French Toast!
My kids have always demanded it for a “hurricane breakfast” when we experience those times on the Gulf Coast.
I’ve used my favorite recipe and bumped it up a notch with some crunchy Panko breading…yum!

Let’s get started!

Mix the ingredients for the batter…

Add the vanilla and cinnamon…

the heavy cream…

Dip each bread slice in the batter…

 then in the Panko breading…

In your skillet, it will become a glorious event like this!

You’re gonna then add a bit more butter and warm syrup…

and maybe some Hillshire Sausage…swoon…

Enjoy!

Cinnamon Swirl Panko French Toast Recipe

  • Author: Lisa Pinney

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Swirl Bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • For the Breading:
  • 1 cup Panko crumbs
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp melted butter
  • 1/2 stick butter for the frying pan

Instructions

In a shallow pan, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla.

In another shallow pan, combine the Panko crumbs, 2 TBSP sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon and the 2 TBSP melted butter; combine until all coated and moist.

Melt 2 TBSP of butter over medium high heat.

Dip each slice of bread into the batter and then in the Panko mixture, covering completely.

Place in the buttered skillet, cooking about 5 minutes or so, careful as to not let the breading burn; add more butter and turn each piece. You may have to adjust the heat.

Place 2 slices each on each plate and serve with more butter and warm syrup.
