Saltine Christmas Toffee Recipe

This was one of the treats I put in my Christmas Goody Boxes this year.

I never knew a saltine cracker could be transformed into such a delight!

Saltine Christmas Toffee


  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed tightly
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 40 saltine crackers
  • 3 containers of M & M Mini's


Step 1

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lay a flat layer of crackers out on the parchment paper.

Step 3

Melt the sugar and butter until mixture boils. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5-6 minutes or until mixture is thickened and sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 4

Pour this mixture over the crackers and spread to coat evenly. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the toffee becomes bubbly.

Step 5

After removing the pan from the oven, let it sit for 3-5 minutes.

Step 6

Sprinkle on the chocolate chips, let them soften and melt, and then spread them into an even layer.

Step 7

Sprinkle the M & M Minis on next. Mash down with slight pressure so that they will stick in the chocolate when you break the toffee apart.

Step 8

Let cool or refrigerate until hardened. Break into pieces and enjoy.

Line up your crackers on your baking sheet…


The beginning of a good thing…


Bring those caramel ingredients to a boil…


Spread over the crackers…


Bake 8-10 minutes until caramel is bubbly…


Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the caramel…let sit a couple of minutes…and then spread all over…


Look at this!!!



Sprinkle the M & M minis all over and press down a bit…


I made some with white chocolate chips too…


It was very festive!


Let the toffee harden and then break into small pieces…
